Research

I am interested in several areas of research:

• Materials and their applications to energy devices. Lithium and Sodium are very near each-other on the periodic table. Yet why is lithium preferred over sodium for secondary batteries?  Sodium is practically free and super abundant while lithium is neither of those.
• Green and renewable energy. Investigating methods of providing clean energy is an important area of research. Solar cells and wind turbines are great but the current challenge is to find ways to efficiently store the energy they create.
• Modeling of devices.  Specifically, how can we model secondary cells and related systems in such a way as to provide methods to increase longevity and to decrease device failures.
