PhotoStencil (2015-2016), Sr. Process Engineer

  • Lean Six Sigma – During my time at PS, I became very familiar with the principles and implementations of Lean Six Sigma. I do not hold an official color belt.
  • Quality – I became familiar with the ISO 9000 – 2015 quality standards program.   Statistical analysis and data collection were daily tasks.   Finding ways to motivate quality standards to employees was an instrumental part of my work. I chose the most positive method and made teaching the principles fun.
  • Supervision –  As a process engineer, I was responsible for the training and direct supervision of both new and experienced manufacturing employees.  I developed formal work instructions used by operators at all levels.

Air Force Academy (2003 – 2013), Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering

  • Research Grant Management –  of $100,000 and $200,000. Developed budgets, expenditure reports, managed grant reporting requirements, and ensured our grantors customers were satisfied with research result.  My primary grantor, of  $100,000 and $200,000, was the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
  • Energy Lab Development.  Identified a need for energy education, identified and secured location, and equipped lab allowing cadets to host their own projects.  Secured the services of a German exchange scientist supporting the lab and its mission. 
  • Executive Officer.  A chance to learn the operation of a medium size organization.  I took care of the administration of 20+ military and civilian faculty and staff.  Awards, Decorations, front office management. Supervised front office staff
  • Personnel Director.  Responsible for recruiting, evaluating, and recommending new faculty.  Gave me a very good insight into the personnel operations of a much larger institution as I directly worked with the Dean’s personnel staff as well as the greater Air Force Personnel Office to identify qualified candidates. 
  • Course Director.  Developed course material and exams, responsible for all course instructors, and ensuring all grades submitted to registrar as appropriate.  Maintained course log and other information requried for ABET accredidation.
  • Electronics Lab Manager.  Maintained student lab stations to include ensuring adequate lab supplies on hand, Secured funding for new equipment and phasing out older equipment.  Redesigned lab layout to accomodate additional students and recover under utilized space.
  • Senior Design Team Mentor.  Avised numerous senior design teams comprised of 4-6 students in electrical, computer, systems, and mechanical engineering disciplines. Reviewed/evaluated presentations, coordinated external, internal, and commercial business mentors.
  • Freshman Advisor.  Responsible for advising and mentoring freshman students until they chose a major area of study.  Approximately 20-30 each academic year.
  • Engineering Advisor.  Responsible for remaining the main advisor for those students choosing to study electrical engineering until graduation.  

National Security Agency, 91 Intelligence Squadron.  (2000-2001)

  • Executive Officer.  Responsible for the administration of over 400 military personnel scattered across the Washington DC region. 
  • Supervision – Directly supervised front office staff of four enlisted personnel handling promotions, decorations, and many other similar dutes as personnel arrived/departed the National Security Agency. Directly supervised front office staff

  • Newsletter – Developed and staffed a monthly newsletter detailing personnel and squadron activities. 

Air Force Research Laboratory (1996 – 2000)

  • Requisistion manager.  Responsible for purchasing lab equipment, office equipment, computer systems, and software including EDA software with per-seat maintenance.
